IT might look like he's spinning his wheels, but Ian Turner's cycling effort is making a big difference.
In just two days of cycling a stationary bike on Koroit Street outside Westpac Bank, Mr Turner has collected more than $3000 which will be donated to the families of Emily Blake and Jake Croft who were both seriously injured in a school bus crash in November.
The veteran Framlingham cyclist has raised more than $5500 for the children since he launched the appeal, called Ride For The Little Ones, on February 1.
His wife Lyn, who has been by his side to help with the appeal, said it was great to see people keen to support the cause.
"The public have been so generous," she said.
"We've been overwhelmed to see so much given from businesses and people walking by."
Mrs Turner estimated her husband had cycled at least 600 kilometres during the two days in Warrnambool.
She said the 69-year-old, who was also injured in a car accident years ago, was determined to do what he could to help Jake and Emily.
"It's been a pleasure," he said of the fund-raising. Donation tins for the appeal are in Mortlake, Terang, Camperdown Cobden, Warrnambool and Port Fairy and Mr Turner will ride to all the towns to collect the tins.
