CURDIEVALE farmer Anthony Couch can’t quite believe the day is coming.
After almost 30 years his beloved beard will be gone.
His wife of 27 years, Karen, said she had seen Anthony without a beard only once — on their very first date.
“I’m just a bit worried I’ll have baby skin underneath and leather skin around my eyes,” her husband said with a laugh.
“I might have a triple chin. Even my mother is going to come down for the shave.”
The dairy farmer bought a Harley-Davidson last year and intends growing back his bikie beard as soon as possible.
“I started growing it because I didn’t like shaving,” he said.
“It will be a shock when people see me without a beard. I never thought it would happen but it’s going to a good cause.”
The idea began as a bit of a laugh but Anthony said it was now starting to set in he will be beardless in a month’s time.

“It just came up in conversation and I said if they ever raised $10,000 I’d shave it off,” he said.
“We were in a pub in Carlton and I said some money has to go back to Warrnambool.”
Anthony’s father died two years ago from cancer and he said he was happy the money was going to two worthwhile causes, Peter’s Project and World’s Greatest Shave.
The shave will be held on St Patrick’s Day, March 16, at Pugg Mahones in Carlton.
Money can be donated to either Peter’s Project via the Westpac Bank 033263, account number 288617, or to World’s Greatest Shave by visiting www.worldsgreatestshave.com and look for Pugg Mahones’ Great Shave.
