BEING eight months' pregnant didn't stop children's entertainer Justine Clarke from striking a chord with her young audience at the last day of Fun4Kids yesterday.
Festival organisers have labelled this year's eight-day event as another rousing success, with capacity crowds flocking to the Civic Green site on Saturday.
The Play School presenter said yesterday's show at Fun4Kids would be her final show for the year, as she took time off work for the birth of her third child.
"When you're asked to perform at a festival that's held in as high regard as Fun4Kids, it's hard to say no," Ms Clarke said.
"I hadn't heard about Fun4Kids until I was asked to make an appearance last year but everyone I spoke to about it said how great it was.
"It's great to work in an environment that caters for kids and is not just about commercialism and trying to sell something for the sake of it.
"The St John Ambulance crew said they would be watching me closely on stage just in case I went into labour.
"I haven't been performing every day like I was a couple of months ago but I've done four shows this weekend which I feel is enough."
The last day of the festival still provided a long roll call of live entertainment with dancer Pandora Pink, comedian Kym Lardner and juggler James Bustar finishing off the event.
Festival director Lisa McLeod said Saturday's sell-out crowd was an indication of the festival's popularity among locals and tourists alike.
"While numbers are down slightly this year we've seen more visitors from outside the region coming to Warrnambool which is what we need for the local economy," Ms McLeod said.
"We've received some fabulous feedback from patrons, especially about our sanitation measures which we enhanced in the wake of the swine flu outbreak.
"This year we've had a refreshed layout of the festival.
"We've moved the woodwork and the rock wall which has allowed for greater access for patrons."
Most motels and caravan parks across Warrnambool experienced an increase in the number of bookings last week.
Hopkins River Caravan Park relief manager Doug Garske said most visitors were young families here for Fun4Kids.
"Our bookings are well up on the past couple of months and are up on last year's July figures as well," he said.
"It isn't the right weather this time of year to go camping so I would think that most people that are coming to Warrnambool on holiday are here for Fun4Kids or sports events like the soccer."
