pic to come MOTORISTS and pet owners will have to dig a little deeper in their wallets from next week when fees rise in Warrnambool as part of the city council's new budget.
In the main one-hour CBD zone parking metres will tick over at the rate of $1 an hour, a rise of 25 per cent, the two-hour zone will rise 33 per cent to 80 cents while the four-hour zone will rise 66 per cent to 50 cents an hour.
In off-street parks the Coles, Ozone and Parkers zones will jump 33 per cent to 80 cents while the art gallery, Cramond and Dickson and off-Koroit Street and off-Kepler street areas will rise by 40 per cent to 70 cents an hour.
The rates for disabled motorists or returned service personnel.
Fines will rise by only 5.4 per cent to $58.
City council chief executive Bruce Anson said part of the fees income would go to improving parking facilities along with an extra half a per cent in general rates.
"Improved parking was identified by the community as a key priority during budget consultation earlier this year," he said.
Animal registrations will rise more modestly with an extra 16 per cent for most dog and cat fees.
From next week it will cost $105 to register an unsterilised dog and $76 for an unsterilised cat.
Sterilised animals are significantly cheaper.
