Drew Hutton, president of the Lock The Gate Alliance, is hosting the discussion around Victoria, supported by environmental group Friends of the Earth.
Mr Hutton has united farmers and environmentalists in Queensland to campaign against the exploration and expansion of coal seam gas.
"Victoria is seeing a surge in coal seam gas exploration, threatening landscapes, ground water, communities and food security," Friends of the Earth campaigns co-ordinator Cam Walker said.
"Proposed new fossil fuel operations will also have a massive climate change impact. These developments are being strongly resisted by local communities, so each forum will also feature a speaker who will outline landholders' rights when it comes coal seam gas and coal exploration and mining."
Tonight's meeting will be held at the Archie Graham Centre in Warrnambool from 7.30pm. Tomorrow's forum will be held at the Colac RSL from 7pm.
