JENNY Watts has been reading The Standard for more than 40 years and she still loves reading it every morning over a cup of coffee.
The Yambuk grandmother-of-four won $1000 in The Standard's readership survey which allowed readers to give their opinion on the south-west's only daily paper.
Mrs Watts said her favourite sections in the paper included Under the Auld Pump and the racing form guide.
"I've been reading The Standard since I was 14, so I've been buying it for more than 40 years," she said.
"My husband Clive loves reading the paper too."
Mrs Watts said her grandchildren Lilli, Darcy, Molly and Poppi all participated in the Wendys section of The Standard and she planned to spend her winning $1000 on Christmas presents for them. More than 800 readers completed the readership survey, the largest of its kind ever conducted by the paper.
General manager Graham McMahon said although The Standard's circulation was strong and that per capita sales were very high for a regional newspaper, the paper still needed to ensure it delivered an ever changing market.
"We are currently reviewing many aspects of The Standard and its operation, so it's important to know what our readers enjoy and which areas they consider need attention," Mr McMahon said.
"There are already some changes proposed for Drive and W Magazine, and with the results of this survey we will proceed with those changes and other ideas the management team have been discussing."
