TWO computer servers valued at $8000 each have been stolen from a Timboon electronics repair business, leaving the uninsured owner desperate for answers.
Andrew Humphreys, 25, went to his rented Timboon-Curdievale Road shop yesterday morning and found the front window smashed.
The young electronics repairer said he initially thought his shop, Timboon Computers and Electronics, had been hit by drunken vandals until he went inside and found the two servers were missing.
The Hewlett Packard machines are about four times the size of a normal desktop computer and are inserted into racks.
"They're not something that your average Joe would use in their home or even recognise what they actually are," he said as he waited for a glazier to fix the window.
Police said they believed the burglary happened some time between 10pm and 12.30am the previous night.
Crime scene officers visited the store in the hope of finding forensic evidence that could lead them to the culprits.
Mr Humphreys said he had not operatedd the business for the past five months because of the downturn in milk prices.
He said the cost of insurance for the store was beyond his reach, leaving him to contemplate a hefty bill from the break-in, including about $1000 to fix the window.
He appealed to anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers or detectives at the Colac Criminal Investigation Unit.
