 Monsters Vs Aliens

Monsters Vs Aliens

IN a world packed to the max with violence, there's nothing like returning to the halycon days of childhood.

And movie-based games are generally the best way to go for console crazies like me. Monsters Vs Aliens is one of those games.

For older experienced and younger "hardcore'' gamers it's one of those titles that's handy to tune out on - taking very little skill or thought to navigate the 12 levels of child-oriented play.

The adventure, like the DreamWorks movie, is good clean harmless fun, with lots of colour and cartoonery to keep the pre-teens giggling and engrossed.

The earth is under attack from aliens and its saviours are a bunch of misfit monsters.

It's a fast ride that has you flicking between key characters - Missing Link, 50-foot skating chick Susan and the flubber-esque Blob - each with their own styles of defeating the enemy and traversing the well-rendered scenery.

Co-op action is supported with a second player able to drop in and out at their leasure, as Dr Cockroach, to help defeat the alien hordes, find collectables and make the simplistic levels that much easier by clearing obstacles. Not that you'll need any help in the comparativly small and easy to navigate levels.

There's also loads of fun to be had taking control of Insectosaurus in monster-size alien battles.

As you go along you'll collect DNA, which unlocks upgrades, mini games, art work and other extras. Monsters vs Aliens is a lot of fun for kids and the perfect way for the rest of us to remember where the fun began.
