EVERY now and then a brilliant game comes along, scoring 101 per cent in everything - game play, sound, graphics, controls, longevity and uniqueness.
While the scorecard for inFAMOUS may not quite add up to 101 perfection, it certainly deserves a high distinction from the University of Fun.
From the graphically-inspired opening sequences to the gritty, detailed perfection of the sprawling post-apocalyptic metropolis, the PlayStation 3-only title does justice to the next-generation consoles graphic and hi-def capabilities.
Bike messenger Cole MacGrath gains electric powers when a package he is carrying explodes.
The bomb wreaks havoc across Empire City, with deadly gangs of Reapers disrupting the order of the world around them.
Your electric presence means you've got too much spark to wield anything with gun powder or explosives and you simply drain the energy from vehicles if you were to drive.
Luckily it won't be long before you'll be jumping and moving between buildings as the fastest means of getting around the city.
Perhaps its biggest weakness is the stealth side missions, which involve you following an enemy courier who is exceptionally sensitive to your presence and will notice you from a mile away if you're not absolutely still.
InFAMOUS also loses a lot of kudos for its unwieldy aiming system.
The enemies will keep you on your toes without being to impossible to destroy.
The back story is entertaining although the cut scenes are unskippable and occasionally too long.
While inFAMOUS won't leave you feeling quite the same sense of pride on completion as say Bioshock or a Grand Theft Auto title, it will leave you coming back for more.
