Soon enough, the hot summer days of feeling quite comfortable in a little floral dress or denim shorts will turn into cosy winter ones. That big coat that has been hiding in darkness will soon become your everyday must-have.
I am sure I am not the only one out there already pondering what I will be wearing in the upcoming season as the shops fill up with the new season looks. Yes, it's crazy, I know, as it is only halfway through our summer.
But a few of us are already questioning what’s next? To some, the thought of creating a new season wardrobe may seem daunting, but it is certainly not as hard as one may think. Many of the current trends being loved at this very minute will be sticking around for winter. A huge trend that can be seen in many collections is the use of bright colours and colouring blocking. And yes, this trend is here to stay at least for a while. There's nothing quite like a bright and trendy wardrobe to keep away the winter blues. It is fun, creative, mood-lifting and, of course, wearable. However, I am hearing you think, how can we maintain this trend in the cooler months? Well then look no further than the coloured jean! Think fiery red, burnt orange, mustard, cobalt blue, pink... the list is endless. Whatever the colour, it's all about having fun.
The coloured jean is great as it incorporates style and an upbeat feeling, as well as being warm. The key is to mix and match with pieces you already have. Let’s say, that old mustard tee that's been sitting at the back of your wardrobe is in a desperate need to be reinvented - well, here it's chance. Pair it with a pair of coral jeans for example, a boyfriend-style blazer in the colour of your choice, black pumps and some chunky jewellery, and there you go. It's great being able to use a current trend to re-invent an old item that has not seen daylight for months. You will find that many pieces - new and old - will work with a pair of statement jeans in a pop colour. Plus there's an added bonus - jeans feel good, look fab and brings together old items which saves money.
Personally, I love a coloured jean as it is something that can be done in several different ways, casually or dressy, pretty or grunge. There are endless possibilities a bright jean can create. If you feel adventurous, colour block and add a contrasting top. For example, wear a pair of magenta jeans with citrus yellow or navy on top. Or if you want to lean more towards the sophisticated side, pair your jeans with a classic oversized white shirt and let your creativity take over.
Give colour a go, it will brighten up any day. Also remember to have fun with it, as that's what it is all about.
